​KotMatch is a service of LAIS vzw, a non-profit organization under Belgian law, RPR 0794.733.767, hereafter referred to as "organization" or "KotMatch". The organization promotes international exchanges and mobility among students, assists them in the host country and represents their interests. KotMatch aims to protect the privacy and personal data of its students and other visitors to our website. That is why we adhere to the European privacy regulation 'GDPR' (General Data Protection Regulation).

The information KotMatch receives via contact forms, messages, and downloads on this website includes your name, contact details, email address, telephone number, your personal bank account number, and any information you provide. This data is processed exclusively for the purpose of establishing and executing a sublease agreement between a tenant and a subtenant.

We process your data based on the following legal grounds: 

• Performance of a contract: To facilitate and establish the sublease agreement between the student parties and the landlord.

• Legitimate interest: To respond to your inquiries via our contact forms and to guarantee the security of our platform. 

 

4. Data Sharing and Security

Personal information is exclusively exchanged in the process and when necessary for the sublease agreement between the 2 student parties and their landlord. We do not give or sell personal data to third parties. We take all reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data online and offline. Your data is secured in your personal KotMatch account, which you can edit, modify and manage yourself at any time.

5. Data Retention Period

​

Your data will be retained for as long as your KotMatch account remains active. Following the termination of a sublease agreement or account deletion, we will store your financial and contractual data for a maximum period of 7 years to comply with Belgian statutory and fiscal obligations. General inquiry data from contact forms will be deleted 2 years after the last contact.
